The first concept we learnt about this week was that of big data and how often business struggle to deal with sheer volume and variety of data and how management staff within a corporation require hard and soft data to help with various decision making and prediction based tasks. I also learnt how that if a business is well informed it will be able to make more educated and therefore better reactions to changes to opportunities and threats within their external environments. However as well as being used to react in the face of changes is also allows business to plan ahead and even prepare for changes that may be coming in the near future. Week 3 Reflection on Lecture 3: This weeks lecture was about the management of information systems infrastructure and services and how information systems actually work. I learnt of the physical components of the IS infrastructure and how they make the storing and sharing of data. I learnt about how there is a huge variety in the different hardware interfaces that a business could use varying from price points as low as around two hundred dollars to well into the millions for supercomputers developed for scientific research. In addition we learnt about software which controls the basic operations of a computer such as start up scripts and file storage programs. However Software can grow in complexity which gives us almost all of a computer programs we are familiar with today. Another thing that we learnt about is the variety of different computer networks and how they allow the sharing of information via binary coding which is a series of noughts and ones that...

Week 2 Reflection on Lecture 2: In this weeks lecture we learn about the value of reflection and reflective writing and how it differs form a piece of descriptive writing. We learn that by reflecting effectively on allows us to best develop our skills and our weaknesses form mistakes that we may have made in past assignments. It allows for a clear path to be set out to allow for improved work moving forward. We learnt about Borton’s cue questions and Borton’s three elements , what? , so what? And now what? I learnt how by asking yourself these key questions you will be able to understand the actual root of the issues that you may have had and allows for planning to prevent it from happening again. We also learnt about Gibbs’s model which is a more structured and guided model of reflection. In addition I also learn that it is vital to steer clear from writing descriptively as this allows for very few marks to be awarded in your favour. Reflection on group work: This week...

In addition we learnt about the importance that information systems play in ensuring that the right information is delivered to the right people at the right times. As well as this we learnt how consumer behav...
