Week 5

 Reflection on Lecture 5:

In This weeks lecture we learnt about information crime and the security and controls that businesses need to implement to ensure that there information is well protected and secure form viruses and other potential threats. Firstly we learnt how due to the new information wave how due to the fact that business information systems are connected to greater network they end up being exposed to an array of external and internal threats. Haider taught us that often the biggest threats are actually internal and often due to employee mistakes. The most common form of computer crimes are unauthorized people having access to information by being able to intercept electronic communication or information modification often carried out by hackers who manage to gain administrative status within the systems. In this current computer age businesses are at threat from hackers and viruses almost daily just by being connected to an internet networks. We learnt how it is vital for businesses to have effective anti virus software’s as well as firewalls. Also I found out about how biometrics is the highest security that a business can have as it allows access via authentication using a body characteristic. In addition we learnt how currently the mobiles that we all own are actually at huge risk as little cyber security is linked to these devices.

Reflection on Group Work

After drawing up questions last week I went to paladar and spoke to the founder who gave us a lot of valuable information however as a group we feel that we need a little more. I feel that this actually mainly due to the fact I was trying to hand write notes during the interview and I found this very difficult I feel that in the future it may be better record the interview either with and audio recorder or even a video. I feel this would allow us to really analyse what we were told with a greater degree of detail. With the information we did have however we began to analyse and see what would be useful for us moving forward in this coursework project.
